As a trash collection provider in the Ridgefield CT area, we can say with some confidence that most households want to recycle. It’s just the process of carefully preparing and sorting all the recyclables that keeps people from doing everything they can to help save the planet.
The introduction of Single Stream Recycling can change that. Now customers don’t need to sort their recyclables anymore. Every qualifying material, including bottles, plastics, cans and paper, can go in the recycling tote together. It’ll all be properly sorted and processed at our facility.
People often ask us can you put cardboard in the single stream recycling, and the answer is yes, you can. We do ask that the cardboard be flattened and less than 2 feet by 2 feet in diameter. Now if you’ve acquired a large amount of cardboard (those Amazon shopping sprees happen to everyone!) and need it gone, just call the customer service center for a special pick up and we’ll take care of it.
Is Recycling Really Making a Difference?
People are worried about climate change. It’s such a big, overwhelming problem that it’s hard to see how doing things like recycling the tuna fish can can possibly have any positive impact. But all of these individual efforts add up. By reducing air and water pollution and saving energy, recycling offers an important environmental benefit: it reduces emissions of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and chlorofluorocarbons, that contribute to global climate change.
